Affordable car rental in Penrith for a weekend trip?
Has anyone hired a car from Penrith recently? I'll be arriving by train and need to rent a car for about a week to explore the surrounding areas. Looking for recommendations on which companies have offices near the station, typical costs, and any tips for getting the best deal. Also, are there any particular models you'd recommend for the local roads?

We had a good experience with Local Wheels last year. They offer free delivery to your accommodation which was really convenient. Their staff were helpful and the booking process was straightforward.
I've found Yorkshire Vehicles to be the most reliable in the area. They're not always the cheapest, but their vehicles are newer and they don't hit you with unexpected charges at the end. Worth paying a bit extra for peace of mind.
I'd recommend checking out Alamo. They have a location near the train station and their prices are competitive. I hired a Vauxhall Astra from them last summer and it was perfect for the narrow roads around the area.
