I'm planning a hiking trip to Skipton next month and need to hire a car to access some of the trails. Does anyone have recommendations for reliable car hire companies in the area? Ideally looking for something affordable but reliable, and a car that can handle some rough tracks. Any tips on booking in advance vs. on arrival? Thanks!

I'd recommend checking out National. They have a location near the train station and their prices are competitive. I hired a Vauxhall Astra from them last summer and it was perfect for the narrow roads around the area.
